Group Surf Lesson At Ka'anapali Beach

  My husband and I took a group surf lesson with ISA Surf School on our honeymoon in November in Ka'anapali. We had a small group on a Tuesday morning -- just the two of us and a couple of friends traveling together from Canada. The waves and water were beautiful and very beginner-friendly. The instructor helped push us out onto the waves and give tips such that both of us were able to stand up at least half the times we tried. It was very calm out and we even saw some sea turtles. Thanks for an enjoyable time!

  We went yesterday with Jonah as our instructor and we had a great time! Jonah was determined to get us the waves we wanted and was very patient and encouraging! Thanks for the awesome experience! :)

  I will say that Koa tried his best but we don’t think the company set him up for success. Our group was 5 surfers to 1 instructor while the other groups were smaller. We understand that we signed up for group but this compounded with choppy waters due to wind and not safe for first time surfers. We spent most of our time paddling to fight the drift and then getting trashed around due to the wind. I wouldn’t recommend this company for price value or maybe just go with private lessons to ensure the guaranteed attention.

  This was such an amazing experience. These guys work hard to make sure you get up. I got up on my first try, I’ve never surfed before. I was so excited, I caught so many waves and by the end of my hour, I was exhausted and so proud of myself. Best day on the island.

  Tight operation! Organized and attention to safety..Christopher the BEST instructor..Thomas very friendly..both found me some great waves to ride even in some "knarly " waves..used this outfit for the second time/trip Highly recommend..also Kelly who photographed it all to take your memories home All around AWESOME

  They had to cancel our initial lessons b/c of wind and surf conditions, but then quickly rebooked us for another lesson few days later. The instructors were super chill, relaxed but also super responsive, not like other more sales-oriented tour companies which I appreciated. My kids really enjoyed their lesson. Also their photographer took amazing pics! Thank you!

  It's good for older kids and adults, but not suitable for young children in a group lesson. Our 10 and 13 year olds were left all alone. The instructor did not even realize that our kids left the group. Our older kids had a blast though.

  My 10 year old and 12 year old love the instructors. Everyone got was able to get up on the boards and there was so much stoke.

  We had an amazing time!!! Booked for four with the group lessons… I took a chance and crossed my fingers there would be a small group and there was!!! We had a lot of attention and we all rode several waves. The instructors were fun and made it that much more enjoyable. By far the best activity I did while I visited Maui. Mahalo guys!!!!

  There was no lesson. They sent us a 3-minute video to watch the night before and when we got there we were given a board and told to paddle out. I adhered to the rules and brought only my 10 year old son, but other families brought 6 and 8 year old children even though it clearly states on the website that kids need to be 9 and older. So one instructor took the smallest child onto his board and gave him the time of his life while the other two instructors were left to attend to about 16 other people. The staff are very kind and insured that we each got pushed into at least one wave for the photo shoot. But there was no instruction. Not sure what I paid for but the kid who got one instructor all to himself seems to have received a private lesson subsidized by the rest of us. Please don't bring small children to a group surf lesson.
