If you're debating between getting the 6-hr tour and and 8.5 hour tour, get the 8.5! We saw the 6-hr cruise and it was really crowded. With the 8.5 hr cruise, there were maybe 30 people on the boat. No one had to work to get a front row seat. It felt very personal and we absolutely loved it. We were asked we were most excited about seeing. I mentioned orcas and was told they were seen maybe one out of every four cruises (we went in the first week of September) because they had already started their migration south. We ended up surrounded by orcas! It was amazing. We also saw mountain goats, puffins, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, otters, dall's porpoise, etc.. everything! We spent a good amount of time at the northwest glacier with a few calving events, along with many other glaciers. The extra time lends itself to exploring and seeing what you can find. I highly recommend it, definitely something to cross off the bucket list!
This was an exceptional experience with knowledge staff giving a lot of information all along the trip. They were accommodating to the wildlife, stopped and stayed as long as we needed to enjoy whales, glaciers calving, etc. There were about 30 people on our boat which was about right for being able to view what we were seeing. I would recommend this company for your tours.
Amazing day does not begin to describe our experience! We were blessed with an absolutely clear sunny warm September day with calm seas. We saw a mountain goat, a Super pod of Orca, Fin whales, porpoise, seals, and the list goes on. The Captain was great and crew was attenuative and helpful. Aialik Glacier was stunning. I wish we could have spent more time there but honestly I'm not sure I would have been satisfied however long we stayed. It was so beautiful and enthralling I just wanted to sit and listen and try to take it all in. I highly recommend Major Marine tours if you are considering a Kenai Fjords or Resurrection Bay tour out of Seward. They are a class act and provide an amazing experience.
Fabulous trip! While there was a set route to see the glaciers, the captain stated up front that this was our cruise and he would stop and change course if we saw wildlife. I never felt like he was in a hurry and wanted us to see as much as we could and enjoy it. In addition to the gorgeous glaciers, we saw porpoises, sea lions, eagles and other birds along with humpback whales. I was particularly impressed with the captain as he seemed to track and anticipate where the whales would surface. The food was good and the Blue Glacier Margaritas were even better! The 8 hour sightseeing cruise went by in a flash and was well worth it. Highly recommended!
We did the NorthWestern Fjord full day tour on ViewFinder. Really, a first class adventure tour! Was on the 5 September tour with Gary (captain) and Dylan (steward). It is not an inexpensive tour but worth every cent! We saw porpoises, mountain goat, puffins, bald eagles, otters, seals, sea-lions, whales and a variety of other birds whose names I cannot remember. Not to mention the umpteen glaciers! Gary did such a good job stopping anywhere he thought we had a chance of finding any animal and I do not think we missed any glacier. This was a 8.5 hr tour and every minute was utilized in sight seeing. The food was good (my family said so) though I could not eat anything, being sea-sick! However, I still had a very good time and would do it again, if in Seward, again but with dramamine! Overall, good value for money and a captivating tour. I would post pictures but they are too good to be shared. Will go in a book!
This is a MUST DO! I loved every minute of it. The crew was amazing and accommodating. Boat was clean, Covid 19 precautions were followed to the best of their abilities. Sights were amazing and the narration was on point. Great job Abe,Octavia and others that I cant remember your names but you are all awesome!
We did the 8.5 hour northwestern fjord cruise. It was amazing!! We saw a ton of whales, sea lions, otters, and puffins. The best part was the glacier where you could see (and hear!) parts of it falling into the water. It was absolutely gorgeous. The trip was made between by Tammy (senior deck hand) and the Kayleigh (Captain) who provided expert commentary. Tammy was very nice when two members of our party felt seasick and gave them techniques to feel more comfortable. She checked in with them often and made sure they were doing ok. Thank you again!! Wish we could do it again!
Cindi WOW WOW WOW Saw so many animals, Humpbacks, otters, seals, puffins, eagles, jelly fish. Was on the 7/31 tour with Captain John and Kyle. 1) Cleanest ship I have ever been on very very impressed with this. 2) John and Kyle did the greatest job stopping and pointing out animals and points of interest. (I go on alot of whale watching tours every year in Maui and NOTHING like the cleanliness of this ship) 3) There were some brats on the boat and unfortunately the stewards had to intervene because the parents were not watching the brats. Stewards handled this very professionally and got the situation under control. I would have been so rude to the parents and the kids they were old enough to know better. :) EXCELLENT handle stewards. 4) The food was pretty good for that many people and trying to get hungry people fed in an expeditiously way. back to 1) ALWAYS CLEANING. I LOVE CLEAN and really enjoyed this. GREAT JOB ON EVERYTHING PEOPLE. I will HIGHLY recommend this to all my friends and on trip advisor. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. So worth every penny and more.
Excellent adventure! The captain and the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The cruise was action-packed with animal sightings. We saw an Orca, porpoises, otters, harbor seals, sea lions, jellyfish, both kinds of puffins, tons of other sea birds and we even saw a full whale breach. The scenery was outstanding. The day went by so quickly. The inside was comfy but we spent most of our time out on the deck. The food was good (and we are picky eaters). Spend the extra time and $$$ and take the 6+ hour cruise.
