Ready for some wildlife? How about mega-fauna like the American Bison? This is our best shot at seeing these massive and beautiful creatures on the wildlife loop of Custer State Park. Over 1500 Bison exist here, along with prong horn sheep, antelope, big horn sheep, ferrets, prairie dogs and a variety of birds. We'll meander through the park in search of our animal friends as we take pictures and learn all we can.

Stop At: Needles Highway, Custer State Park, SD

Threading the eye of the needle is the best part. Find out why they call this the needles parkway and be prepared to traverse a few windy roads and tunnels along the way. Who knows what you might find?

Stop At: Iron Mountain Road, Custer State Park, Custer, SD

Iron Mountain Road was said to be impossible to build. Let's see what it's like to drive a challenge accepted. This road goes through the Black Hills, pig tail curves bridges and tunnels on our way to stunning views.

Enter the culture and history before settlers arrived in the scene. This monument is dedicated to one of the most important indigenous people of the area, Crazy Horse. A courageous, and complicated warrior, he truly left his imprint upon this land. It's a fascinating story that must be told. let's visit the monument, watch a movie and make out way through some of the most interesting Native American artifacts of this land.

Daniel’s extensive knowledge about the area’s history and the plant and animal life was impressive. It wasn’t a cookie cutter “tour” - it felt more personalized and immersive. You can stop to take pictures and stay as long as you want to at any of the stops. Wear comfortable close-toed shoes. Feel free to bring your own snacks if you want, but Daniel provides snacks and a yummy picnic lunch and plenty of water. We loved spending the day with Daniel and Amy! Whole-heartedly recommend My XO Adventures.

We liked that we got to experience so many places. All were great. Daniel was very informative, friendly, outgoing and answered all of our questions. He let us tour at our own pace. We would highly recommend Daniel for anyone interested in a private tour. Plus he makes a great picnic lunch.

What a great introduction to the Black Hills! We are first time visitors and were amazed at everything we saw and learned about the area. Our tour guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and easily shared his passion for the area and its people. We saw so many things that we would have overlooked if we had tried to drive the area ourselves. As part of the tour we also shared an incredible picnic lunch with Daniel. I would highly recommend Daniel and this tour to any future travelers.

Great tour and guide. Very warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel very comfortable. Always assisting when needed and making stops when we wanted. Great driver and stopped at the best sights for viewing, explaining and pictures. I recommend his tour every time.

Daniel picked us up at our K Bar S hotel in his clean and comfortable van. We went to Mt Rushmore first. Had plenty of time for pictures and browsing the visitor center. The short movie on the history of Mt Rushmore is a must. We then drove on a 20 mile loop of Custer State park where we were up close and personal with Buffalo. We also saw pronghorns, deer, prairie dogs, and donkeys. It is terrific to be on a guided tour where someone else does the driving! Daniel had prepared a picnic lunch for us which was delicious. We then drove through the Needles highway. The majestic beauty of the Cathedral Spires cannot be described. Once again we were happy someone else was driving. The last stop on the tour was Crazy Horse. Daniel was a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Lakota Indian tribe and I came away with a new perspective on the Black Hills. The tour lasted from 8:30 am until 5:00pm but he would have kept us as long as we wanted. A lot of time for pics and browsing gift shops was allowed. I highly recommend this guided tour as it is well worth the money.

When I booked this tour I never realized that dreams can come true in just a matter of hours! Mount Rushmore was the next to the last thing on my Bucket List and thanks to Daniel, that portion of my list was erased into memories as I relished every minute looking at Mount Rushmore. Additionally, thanks to Daniel, our guide, we experienced a complete understanding of the Black Hills, Custer State Park and the Crazy Horse monument. Although it is not yet complete, Daniel expertly described the history while all the time searching for wildlife on the side of the road. Daniel is gifted in his knowledge of animals, plants, and everything native to the area plus more! If your tour includes a chuck wagon lunch, you're in luck because Daniel will prepare a delicious picnic lunch! We learned so much and found a new friend in Daniel!

My family had the most incredible and memorable day! Our guide Daniel was the absolute best! He knew the best ways to experience all of the sights. We saw the Crazy Horse memorial, Needles highway, Sylvan Lake, Custer State Park where we saw hundreds of bison up close, Mt. Rushmore and much more. We laughed and learned so much. This was a family memory that we will always cherish. I highly recommend this tour!

Our guide Daniel was amazing! We not only experienced the sites mentioned above, but also much more. At one point we were completely surrounded by 200+ bison. We learned a lot and shared many laughs throughout the day. It was a day we will never forget! I highly recommend Daniel and myXO adventures!

Amazing day with Daniel seeing awesome sites at Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Black Hills,etc. never knew this area had so much to offer and such an educational adventure w/Daniel. Must have seen 30+ Bison in 2 different herds, mules, antelope, prairie dogs,etc. cathedral spires a must, picnic lunch at Stockade lake, gorgeous views at Sylvan Lake. A day we will never forget. Thanks Daniel!!
