During the 2.5 hour tour through the restricted region of Monument Valley you will explore the sacred unforgettable homeland of the Navajo people. The first stop on your tour adventure will be John Ford's Point, a site that often featured in John Ford's western movies. You will then continue your journey further into the backcountry and you will visit the valley's second largest arch  Sun's Eye arch.  Discover some of the valley's oldest Anasazi ruins, petroglyphs and pictographs. Later you will hike the sand dunes at Ear of the Wind arch and walk inside the Big Hogan, known as Monument Valley's largest amphitheater, where your Navajo guide will perform a musical demonstration for you. On your next stop you will see the isolated group of spires known as Yei Bi Chei next to which stands one of the most well known peaks in the valley, Totem Pole a tall, red sandstone column. Jamie was an excellent tour guide. Just the right mix of funny and informative. The sights in Monument Valley are unbelievably beautiful. Jamie even sang for us and played the flute. Magical.

We had a wonderful Jeep tour with our guide Stanley. He talked a lot about the Navajo culture and how his people live daily life there in the valley. He also sang Navajo song for us which was very good. Monument valley amazes me every time I travelled there. I think the talks about how these rocks are formed from geological time point is missing in the tour as guide only talked about how local people live there. I’d like to hear the science behind these great plains when on tour like this - “ Monument valley is formed during the Permian period, this patch of land once formed part of a seafloor where sediments and sandstone piled up in layers for millions of years. Tectonic forces raised the slab above the water line and created a plateau. Then water and wind chipped away at the sedimentary rock and removed the softer materials, eventually giving us the towering structures that we see today.” This place also has lots of fossil remains and if tour include those would be great. But this is just me. Tour was wonderful just lacking the science side.

Our guide RC was wonderful, he was happy to show us notable features in the buttes and landscapes, and gave us some really interesting insights into the history of the place as well as stories about Navajo life and culture. He took us to some of the best photo spots and pointed out things like petroglyphs, wild plants, acoustics, animal tracks, etc. Sure you can drive the valley loop on your own, but I think we would have missed most of the features of interest if we'd tried to self guide ourselves through it. We also visited a Hogon to see the whole process of how those beautiful rugs are made. Overall an excellent excursion, worth the money and highly recommended!

We booked our tour to be part of a group but ended up being the only two. Our guide was Wayne. He informed us that the audio equipment for the truck was broken so he couldn't narrate as we drove along. This was a disappointment and I felt this should have been corrected beforehand because it was part of the trip. Wayne was informative once I started asking questions at the stops. I'm not sure if he would have offered any information if I hadn't encouraged him. I would have to agree with another reviewer that some of the stops didn't need to be as long as they were and my husband thought it could have been to meet the advertised 2.5 hour time allowed. Overall I found it enjoyable & informative!

Simpson tour in back of a pickup truck with 2 rows of seats. Bumpy road but still a great tour. Navajo guide and driver who gave us a lot of good information. And if your are old Western movies fan - you HAVE to see this.

We had the best time...it was the highlight of our trip topping the Grand Canyon.. Jamie was very knowledgeable, and we enjoyed having him as our guide.

Before booking my 2.5 hour 4X4 Monument Valley Tour, I requested by e--mail a confirmatrion that the tour would include all the 11 points of the classic Valley Drive. The answer was that all points would be included, plus other points in the restricted areas. With my great disappointment it was not so at all. I did my tour on Saturday May 25th at 9:00. I was taken only to the first 5 points of the Valley Drive and then to some other places of little or no interest at all. The stops at any places were exaggeratedly long, much longer than necessary, resulting in a waste of the available time. At the end of the tour I had no other choice than driving my own car again through the complete Valley Drive, including the wonderful portions (the last 6 points) that had been completely skipped by the tour guide. By the way, I would advise that there is no problem in completing the tour with a normal vehicle (without need of a 4 wheel drive) plus you avoid a lot of sand in your face. I recommend not to take this tour. Gaspare

We elected to take a guided jeep tour, as you are able to go deeper into Monument Valley with a guide than just self driving. It was fantastic. Cody took us all the way through the park back to areas unreachable without a 4 x 4. One highlight was the Big Hogan, where Cody sang a traveling song in his native language. I highly recommend Simpson and Cody!
