Beyond the Lens really was a fantastic place! The somewhat hokey exterior lead me to believe that it was just another “cash grab” tourist trap. Wrong on the “cash grab” part. This attraction, though a bit eclectic, is well designed. There are lots of interactive opportunities and even some learning. They also have a fly attraction that is very similar to Disney’s Soarin’. It really is a fun way to spend a couple of hours in Branson!
We went here with a large group but I was disappointed in our visit. First we stood in a line for about 30 minutes, which was the only line open at the time. They then opened a second line but when we got to the front of the line we were originally standing in the clerk told us that this line was changed to a reservation line only....we the had to go stand in the second line for another 30 minutes to buy tickets. Once we got into the attraction we began to notice that several of the items inside the attraction were not working. It felt over crowded and understaffed. I would avoid this one until they get some things fixed.
We found this attraction online and after looking thru all the available activities, decided this is where we would take our large family for a fun day on Christmas break. I'll start with the positives--very nice, helpful staff and the Polar Express FlyRide was really neat. While we did have "some" fun, there were also a lot of disappointments. Several of the interactive games had error messages on the screens. Some of the video games were on but when you clicked "start", they never would start. The VR game only had one working station and no attendant, so it was a long wait once someone did arrive. The escape room attendant never showed up. The teens in our group were done in about 30 minutes. We would likely go back to see the Flight Across America, but the exhibit side needs a little help.
We were looking for something to do to fill some time before our evening show and chose Beyond the Lens. We did two rides….the travel across America and the Polar Express. We waited about 30 minutes to Baird each ride. The rides were fun…..but kinda pricey for what it was. The way they seat is a little wonky, as they split our group, and when it was suggested that we wanted to stay together the tour person was adamant that we must separate…..it was just weird that the ride wasn’t full, but we weren’t allowed to sit next to each other. The museum part was very interactive. There were lots of video games and activities to participate in. We also did the escape room. It was cool. My kids really enjoyed the bumper cars. There were some fun photo opportunities. We did accomplish filling a few hours to get to our show…..and there was lots of random cool things…..it just seemed a bit pricey for what it was.
This place is super fun! So many hands on exhibits. Lots of fun for adults and the kids. The employees are SUPER friendly and helpful. Mrs. Deborah who greeted us at the front and began our tour was THE BEST! She made our visit AMAZING! If every business had someone like her they would be making millions! I love how this place employs Senior Adults! Bring your family here and do the Fly Ride add on. It was awesome!
We enjoyed this much more than we thought we would. We did the combo ticket for the entrance and the FlyRide! The kids enjoyed the exhibits, arcade style games, and console games they were able to play. It was not super busy on the day we went so we were able to take our time with the exhibits. I think on a busy day this attraction would be less fun. We really enjoyed the Escape Room Challenge. I also want to give a shout out to the employees. Everyone was nice and great to deal with while we were there: especially Lanae and Deborah. We would return when we visit Branson again.
It would be very easy to spend 3-4 hours here. My wife and I started in the interactive area and spent a couple of hours walking through the various exhibits and trying almost everything. There are a lot of cool things to see and do, including oversize video games, trivia, historical information, mini escape rooms and much more. Most games in the interactive area are free to play and include such classics as Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, Skeeball, Pop-a-shot, Electronic Connect4 and many others. We left the interactive area early to do the FlyRide! immersive ride. After strapping into our seats we were taken over many US landmarks in a virtual plane ride. The seats moved based on virtual movements of the plane and included mist and smells. After the ride we re-entered the interactive experience and finished out the exhibits that we didn't have time to complete. Overall a very worthwhile experience and a fun way to spend half a day. This would be a great way to entertain kids of all ages. Every employee we met was very polite and helpful. There is a small gift shop and various places throughout the interactive area where you can take pictures. These pictures are then available for purchase on your way out of the area, but there is no hard sell.
